Application Engineer

About this role

Away is seeking an Application Engineer to maintain and enhance their Shopify storefront, custom apps, and POS integrations. You'll work across the full e-commerce stack—from Liquid theme updates to Node.js/Remix app development—while partnering with product and marketing teams to deliver conversion-focused digital experiences.

What you'll do

• Maintain and update Shopify theme using Liquid templating for design changes and performance optimization
• Develop internal Shopify apps with Node.js and Remix for promotions, bundling, and checkout customizations
• Troubleshoot and resolve bugs in Shopify storefront and POS integrations, escalating complex issues as needed
• Build and manage webhooks and backend event handlers connecting Shopify to third-party platforms like Klaviyo and AfterShip
• Implement server-side event tracking via GTM and Amplitude for product analytics and attribution
• Collaborate with Growth, Brand, and Product teams to ship new features across web properties
