About this role
Axon is seeking an RF Test Engineer II in Scottsdale to design and execute comprehensive testing protocols for wireless-enabled public safety devices, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and optimal performance across cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GNSS technologies. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to debug RF challenges, support field validations, and drive the certification process for innovative body-worn cameras and connected devices.
What you'll do
- Design and implement RF test plans for wireless devices, verifying performance against product and regulatory requirements
- Measure and analyze over-the-air metrics (TRP, TIS) using advanced test equipment in anechoic chambers
- Conduct spectrum analysis and signal characterization for LTE, 5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GNSS technologies
- Document test data, create technical reports, and present findings to cross-functional engineering teams
- Support device certification activities including pre-certification testing and coordination with external test labs
- Investigate and resolve RF performance issues such as sensitivity, transmit power, and signal interference
What they're looking for
- RF testing and measurement with CMW500, CMX500, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators
- Cellular wireless technologies (LTE, 5G) and multi-band Wi-Fi/Bluetooth/GNSS testing
- RF circuit design principles and component characterization
- Cellular certification standards (PTCRB, CTIA, GCF) and regulatory compliance (FCC, CE, ETSI)
- Test plan development and technical documentation
- Embedded systems troubleshooting and RF debug methodologies
- Electronics schematic and mechanical drawing interpretation
- Linux command line and CMWrun test scripting (preferred)
