Mechanical Design Engineer II

About this role

Axon is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer II in Scottsdale, Arizona to lead the design and development of innovative public safety technologies from concept through manufacturing. You'll own mechanical design projects for next-generation products, collaborating across electrical engineering, industrial design, and manufacturing teams in a fast-paced environment.

What you'll do

• Drive product development from conceptualization through manufacturing execution
• Lead ideation and design of subsystem and system-level architectural concepts
• Build and analyze high-fidelity prototypes and conduct mechanical analysis using FEA and tolerance studies
• Collaborate with domestic and international teams to translate product requirements into engineering deliverables
• Ensure designs meet manufacturing requirements through DFM/DFA and tolerance management
• Preserve industrial design intent while implementing robust mechanical solutions

What they're looking for

• Mechanical design and CAD (Creo or equivalent)
• Product design for injection molding, stamped metal, die-casting, and machining
• Thermal management and environmental protection (dust/water ingress) design
• FEA, tolerance analysis, and mechanical testing
• PCB/PCBA and electro-mechanical integration experience
• Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA)
• Cross-functional collaboration and communication
• Problem-solving and design constraint optimization
