Software Engineer I

About this role

Axon is seeking a Software Engineer I to design and build backend systems for a law enforcement data platform serving crime analysts and administrators. You'll work on high-availability, web-scale data systems in a hybrid role based in Sterling, Virginia, collaborating with product, design, and agency partners.

What you'll do

• Participate in code reviews and architecture design meetings
• Own and drive end-to-end features with Product and Design teams
• Ensure code quality and performance standards
• Partner with internal teams and agencies to make public safety data accessible
• Facilitate cross-team collaboration among engineers
• Maintain high availability and high throughput data systems

What they're looking for

• Backend development in Java, Scala, Go, C# or similar managed languages
• End-to-end web-scale data system design and maintenance
• Technical decision-making based on requirements and trade-offs
• SQL or NoSQL data store experience
• Linux/Unix/Mac experience
• Knowledge of software engineering and open source technologies
• Code quality and performance optimization
