Unified Communications Integration Engineer, Public Safety

About this role

Axon seeks a Unified Communications Integration Engineer to design and deploy a cloud-based 911 emergency response platform. You'll integrate real-time communication and VoIP services while ensuring high availability, security compliance, and five-nines uptime for public safety agencies.

What you'll do

• Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain the emergency communication platform for 911 infrastructure
• Design and deploy customized VoIP and unified communications solutions for clients
• Install, integrate, and manage PBX projects and open-source UC solutions
• Onboard new customers and provide technical training to operations teams
• Create technical specifications and solution documentation
• Collaborate with internal teams including R&D, operations, sales, and product management

What they're looking for

• VoIP architecture and deployment (Kamailio, FreeSWITCH, Asterisk)
• SIP, SDP, RTP, WebRTC protocols and troubleshooting
• Networking fundamentals and OSI model (3+ years experience)
• Linux administration and bash scripting
• AWS cloud deployment and infrastructure
• Audio/video codecs, encryption, and transport knowledge
• Docker and Kubernetes (preferred)
• Networking certifications like CCNA Voice, CCNP, or CCIE (preferred)
