About this role
Base seeks a Market Infrastructure Engineer to design and operate the production platform that executes trading algorithms, controls a distributed battery fleet in real time, and connects to wholesale energy markets like ERCOT. You'll build the critical systems that translate trading decisions into battery commands and ensure reliable, low-latency execution at scale.
What you'll do
- Design and operate production stack for trading algorithms and market bidding
- Build integrations with ERCOT and other grid operators for bidding, telemetry, and dispatch
- Create real-time command path from trading decisions to thousands of batteries
- Develop market data pipelines and observability tools for trading performance and fleet response
- Build simulation and backtesting environments for algorithm validation
- Own algorithm deployment tooling, guardrails, and rollback procedures
What they're looking for
- Backend or infrastructure engineering on AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Experience with latency-sensitive or failure-prone systems
- Programming in Go, Python, or similar backend languages
- Distributed systems and service-oriented architecture design
- Infrastructure as code (Terraform) and CI/CD systems
- Cross-functional collaboration and communication
- Energy markets or real-time control systems (bonus)
- Time-series data at scale or workflow orchestration (bonus)
