About this role

Base seeks a Power Systems Engineer to lead the development and execution of power flow studies for their distributed residential battery grid operations. You'll design analyses at distribution and transmission levels, collaborate with internal teams and utility stakeholders, and become an expert in grid dispatch and control for next-generation energy resources.

What you'll do

  • Gather and define power flow study requirements for battery aggregation scenarios including transient stability, steady-state, and contingency analyses
  • Select and implement appropriate power flow modeling tools for different technical use-cases and system scales
  • Design and deploy programmable, recurring power flow models solved at scale
  • Compile and present study results to both internal operations teams and external utility stakeholders
  • Participate in standards committees and technical meetings to advocate for industry standards amendments
  • Collaborate across operations and business development teams on distributed energy resource integration

What they're looking for

  • Power flow modeling tools (PSS/E, PowerWorld, CYME, GridLab-D)
  • Python data analysis and visualization
  • IEEE standard test feeder topologies
  • Distributed and transmission system analysis
  • Bulk transmission interconnection processes
  • Computational scaling methodologies for power studies
  • PyPSA or similar grid simulation frameworks
