About this role

Base seeks a Platform Engineer to design and operate shared infrastructure, internal platforms, and core services that enable hardware-integrated systems across the company. You'll work across backend, hardware, and infrastructure teams to remove bottlenecks, establish architectural standards, and ensure reliability and safety in a distributed battery network powering the next-generation grid.

What you'll do

  • Define service interfaces, deployment patterns, and operational standards for hardware-connected systems
  • Consolidate fragmented implementations across backend, device, and hardware teams through code and architectural changes
  • Design and maintain shared platforms and infrastructure that multiple engineering teams depend on in production
  • Build tooling, defaults, and CI/CD systems that simplify local and remote development at scale
  • Document platform architecture, design decisions, and engineering practices to propagate standards across the organization
  • Introduce infrastructure patterns supporting distributed services, production workloads, and hardware integration

What they're looking for

  • Backend or infrastructure engineering in cloud-based environments
  • Modern cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
  • Infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar)
  • Programming in Go, Python, or similar backend languages
  • Distributed systems fundamentals and service-oriented architectures
  • CI/CD system design and software delivery workflows
  • Containerized workloads and orchestration
  • Cross-functional collaboration and technical communication
