About this role
Baseten is hiring an AI Engineer to build agentic product features for customers training frontier models on their platform and automate internal workflows. You'll work directly with research engineers to ship AI-driven products, design reliable systems with proper guardrails, and own results end-to-end across the full stack.
What you'll do
- Build and ship agentic product experiences from prototype to general availability
- Design harnesses, execution flows, and guardrails for production AI system reliability
- Create internal automation and AI tooling to increase team velocity
- Partner with research engineers to translate internal research into customer-facing features
- Define and instrument evaluations to measure output quality improvements
- Work full-stack (API, backend, orchestration, frontend) to implement features end-to-end
What they're looking for
- 5+ years building and shipping software applications
- Demonstrated experience building LLM-powered products and agentic workflows
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and technical depth
- Python proficiency plus fluency in another language
- Ability to build accurate mental models of complex systems
- Agent observability and eval framework design
- Full-stack development across multiple layers
- Strong communication bridging technical and business needs
