Software Engineer - Core Financial Platform

About this role

Basic Capital, a fintech startup transforming the retirement industry, seeks a Software Engineer to build and maintain core trading, financing, and fund management systems. You'll design complex financial infrastructure handling money movement and trading operations alongside an elite engineering team backed by top investors.

What you'll do

• Build and maintain trading, financing, and fund management systems
• Design and architect systems that orchestrate complex fund flows and reconciliation
• Develop backend services using modern frameworks and event-driven architecture
• Participate in architecture discussions, planning, and code reviews
• Work on API design and financial platform infrastructure
• Contribute across the full technology stack as needed

What they're looking for

• Backend framework development (Kotlin, Rust, Java, Go, C/C++, Python, Ruby, or TypeScript)
• System architecture and design
• API design and event-driven systems
• SQL databases (MySQL or PostgreSQL)
• Cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Trading or lending system experience (preferred)
• Workflow orchestration tools like Temporal (preferred)
• Problem-solving and complexity management
