Associate, AI & Data Infrastructure

About this role

Bessemer Venture Partners seeks an Associate to source and evaluate early-stage investments in AI, data, and developer infrastructure. Working alongside experienced investors, you'll build relationships within technical communities, develop investment theses, and lead diligence on promising startups while supporting portfolio companies through their critical early growth phases.

What you'll do

• Embed in technical communities (meetups, forums, labs) to discover founders and build authentic relationships before they fundraise
• Source investment opportunities through network, research, and technical pattern-matching across emerging domains
• Develop and refine investment theses on evolving technical trends in compute, data infrastructure, and AI workflows
• Lead end-to-end diligence including technical reviews, customer interviews, competitive analysis, and investment recommendations
• Support portfolio company growth through hiring, strategic introductions, technical guidance, and fundraising preparation
• Collaborate across the investment team to identify opportunities and support colleagues

What they're looking for

• Strong technical foundation (CS degree, ML PhD, software engineering, or founding experience)
• Deep understanding of system architecture and design trade-offs
