AI Backend Engineer (AI Workflow Systems)

About this role

BJAK seeks an AI Backend Engineer to build and operate production systems that power AI-driven insurance workflows across Southeast Asia's largest digital insurance platform. You'll design inference pipelines, orchestration layers, and optimize latency/cost for LLM-based automation while ensuring reliability and observability at scale in a fully remote, globally distributed team.

What you'll do

• Build and operate backend systems serving AI-powered insurance workflows in production
• Design AI orchestration layers connecting models, APIs, workflows, and business logic
• Implement inference pipelines for LLM-based and AI-assisted automation
• Optimize latency, throughput, and cost across AI services through caching, batching, and routing
• Implement observability infrastructure including logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting
• Debug production issues across distributed systems and collaborate with cross-functional teams
