AI Backend Engineer (AI Workflow Systems)

About this role

BJAK, Southeast Asia's largest digital insurance platform, seeks an AI Backend Engineer to design and operate production systems that power AI-driven insurance workflows. You'll build inference pipelines, optimize latency and cost, implement observability, and collaborate across global teams to deliver reliable, scalable AI systems serving millions of users.

What you'll do

• Build and operate backend systems serving AI-powered insurance workflows in production
• Design AI orchestration layers connecting models, APIs, workflows, and business logic
• Implement inference pipelines for LLM-based and AI-assisted automation
• Optimize latency, throughput, and cost across AI services through caching, batching, and routing
• Implement observability tools including logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting
• Debug production issues across distributed systems and collaborate with frontend, product, and ML teams
