About this role

A1 is seeking an Applied AI Engineer to build production-ready AI features for a proactive smart assistant. You'll work end-to-end from model behavior to real-world reliability, focusing on making AI systems dependable and practical for everyday users.

What you'll do

  • Design and iterate on prompts, tools, memory, and agent workflows to shape model behavior
  • Build AI features end-to-end from model development through deployment and user experience
  • Debug issues across the full stack including model, orchestration, infrastructure, and UX
  • Develop evaluation frameworks to measure real-world AI performance and reliability
  • Optimize for latency, cost, and production reliability in deployed systems
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to translate ambiguous problems into working solutions

What they're looking for

  • Python and production-quality code writing
  • Machine learning fundamentals and neural network architectures
  • Model training, fine-tuning, and deployment experience
  • LLM APIs and inference serving (vLLM, similar tools)
  • PyTorch or JAX
  • Vector databases and retrieval systems
  • Full-stack debugging across ML and systems layers
  • Problem-solving in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
