Applied AI Engineer

About this role

BJAK, Southeast Asia's leading digital insurance platform, seeks an Applied AI Engineer to design and deploy LLM-powered features directly into production insurance workflows. You'll transform AI capabilities into reliable user-facing products, optimizing interactions across quotations, claims, and customer operations while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

What you'll do

• Build and integrate LLM-based features into insurance workflows and customer-facing products
• Design prompts, reasoning flows, and structured outputs for production use cases
• Develop guardrails and validation layers to ensure AI reliability and consistency
• Evaluate model performance using real-world data, feedback loops, and experimentation
• Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate AI into APIs and core systems
• Analyze user behavior and model responses to continuously improve AI performance

• Production software engineering experience
• LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, or open-source models)
• Prompt engineering and structured outputs
• Python and Node.js
• REST API and database design (SQL/NoSQL)
• A/B testing and experimentation frameworks
