Backend Engineer, AI (Agent Systems)

Join A1's team to build reliable backend systems powering an AI assistant that handles complex, multi-step workflows. You'll own the inference and orchestration layer connecting models to millions of users, focusing on low-latency APIs, production reliability, and real-world task completion.

What you'll do

• Design and operate production inference pipelines and orchestration layers for AI-powered features
• Build high-throughput, low-latency backend services serving model requests across mobile and desktop clients
• Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and incident response systems for production reliability
• Optimize system performance through caching, batching, streaming, and latency reduction
• Maintain clear API contracts between backend infrastructure and frontend/ML systems
• Debug and resolve issues in distributed systems under production load

• Production backend engineering and distributed systems

• AI inference patterns (LLMs, embeddings, multimodal models)
