Backend Engineer - AI Workflow Automation (Remote, China)

About this role

BJAK seeks a Backend Engineer in China to build scalable automation systems for insurance workflows, including quotes, policies, renewals, and claims. You'll design APIs, manage state tracking, and collaborate with Malaysia-based teams to deliver reliable, AI-driven backend services that streamline end-to-end insurance processes.

What you'll do

• Design and implement backend services powering AI-driven insurance workflow automation across multiple process types
• Build logic for quote generation, policy issuance, endorsements, renewals, and claims with proper state tracking and visibility
• Develop robust APIs, background jobs, queues, and failure recovery mechanisms with idempotency guarantees
• Debug production issues, perform root cause analysis, and optimize system performance and resilience
• Connect customer data, insurer systems, and internal task queues into cohesive end-to-end workflows
• Collaborate with product, operations, QA, frontend, and DevOps teams on integrated system delivery
