Backend Engineer - Insurance Automation Platform (Remote, China)

About this role

BJAK seeks a Backend Engineer to design and build core systems powering an insurance automation platform that streamlines quotes, policy issuance, renewals, endorsements and claims. You'll architect scalable APIs and workflows connecting customers, insurers and operations into one unified system, working remotely from China with a Malaysia-based team.

What you'll do

• Design and implement backend services, APIs and workflows for end-to-end insurance processes
• Build scalable data models and system architecture for complex insurance operations
• Develop asynchronous processing pipelines, queues and background job systems
• Ensure data correctness, consistency and reliability across transactional systems
• Debug production issues and perform root cause analysis on multi-step workflows
• Collaborate with product, operations, QA, frontend and DevOps teams on feature delivery
