Backend Engineer - Policy Issuance Automation (Remote, China)

About this role

BJAK seeks a Backend Engineer to build automated policy issuance systems for insurance workflows. You'll design and maintain core backend services that handle policy creation, validation, and lifecycle management across multiple insurers, working remotely from China with a Malaysia-based engineering team.

What you'll do

• Build backend services powering end-to-end policy issuance automation
• Design policy creation, validation, issuance logic and lifecycle management systems
• Integrate with insurer systems, workflow engines and external APIs
• Implement complex business rules for eligibility, pricing and approvals
• Optimize APIs, data models and asynchronous processing for reliability and scale
• Debug production issues and ensure data consistency across multiple systems
