Backend Software Engineer - AI Operations Systems (Remote, China)

About this role

BJAK seeks a Backend Software Engineer to build AI-driven automation systems that power insurance operations at scale. You'll design and implement core backend services handling quotes, policies, renewals, claims and workflows, working remotely from China while collaborating with Malaysia-based teams.

What you'll do

• Build backend services powering AI-driven workflow automation and insurance operations
• Design APIs, data models and architectures for complex insurance processes (quotes, issuance, renewals, claims)
• Implement asynchronous processing, message queues and workflow orchestration systems
• Ensure data consistency, correctness and reliability across multi-service operational systems
• Debug production issues and perform root cause analysis across distributed workflows
• Collaborate with product, operations, QA and DevOps teams on end-to-end solutions
