Platform DevEx Engineer

About this role

Black Canyon Consulting seeks a Platform DevEx Engineer to support NCBI at the National Library of Medicine, building and maintaining developer tools and CI/CD infrastructure used across the organization. This hybrid role involves working on GitLab pipelines, Kubernetes deployments, Python applications, and documentation to enable developers to build and deploy high-quality, secure software.

What you'll do

• Design and maintain GitLab CI pipeline configurations and templates across multiple programming languages
• Develop Python applications and scripts for build, deployment, and DevOps management
• Create and manage Kubernetes configuration templates using YTT templating language
• Debug and troubleshoot Kubernetes deployments on platforms like OpenShift and Anthos
• Lead smaller projects to add new capabilities to the DevEx platform
• Maintain comprehensive documentation for platform components and DevEx systems

• Strong programming fluency in Python, C++, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar languages
• Linux systems administration and command-line expertise
• CI/CD pipelines, source control, containerization, and package publishing
• GitLab CI/CD configuration and management

• Cloud deployment and web API development
