Mechanical Engineer

About this role

BlackSky, a space-based intelligence company, seeks a Mechanical Engineer to design and develop satellite systems and components throughout their lifecycle. You'll create CAD models, manufacturing documentation, and support production while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in a hybrid role based in Tukwila, WA.

What you'll do

• Design spacecraft structures and components using Creo CAD software
• Create and maintain engineering drawings, assembly documentation, and bills of materials
• Support manufacturing teams by resolving build issues and implementing corrective actions
• Develop tooling, fixtures, and ground support equipment for integration and testing
• Document design data in technical reports and presentations
• Collaborate across disciplines to balance performance, manufacturability, and schedule requirements

What they're looking for

• CAD software (Creo preferred)
• ANSI Y14.5 dimensioning and tolerancing
• Mechanical design and analysis
• Manufacturing documentation and drawings
• Design maturation from concept to production
• Windchill software (preferred)
• Satellite systems experience (preferred)
• Material selection for space environments (preferred)
