About this role
The Role
Cash App reaches 59 million monthly active customers, and top-of-funnel growth is accelerating. We're looking for a Growth Manager to be the GM for activation and habituation. You'll own the goals for how customers find their first meaningful moment in Cash App and turn it into a lasting habit, and you'll decide how to hit them.
This role blurs growth and product. You won't hand requirements off to someone else. On this team, you are the product owner for your growth levers. You'll set the strategy, own the roadmap and experiment backlog, and work directly with Engineering, ML, Design, and Analytics to ship.
Every lever is on the table: onboarding flows, in-app surfaces and prompts, eligibility logic, incentive mechanics, notifications, and customer communications across push, email, SMS, and in-app. You'll pick the lever most likely to move the metric, run the experiment, and scale what works.
You'll sit on the Cash App Engagement Marketing team, which gives you deep customer context, lifecycle craft, and a strong peer group. But this isn't a traditional marketing role. You'll be just as comfortable shipping a product change as you are writing and launching a message or building the model behind an upsell engine.
People who thrive here have come from growth product, growth marketing, lifecycle, business operations, and consumer analytics. What they share is a drive to own outcomes, an experimentation reflex, and the ability to move between strategy and the details.
What's Unique About This Role
- Scale. With 59M monthly actives and rapid top-of-funnel growth, your experiments read in days, not months, and your wins move numbers that matter.
- Real ownership. You own the goal and the levers. Your roadmap shapes what Cash App builds, not just what it sends.
- Every lever is fair game. Product changes, in-app experiences, incentives, and comms are all yours to test and combine.
- The AI frontier. You'll help define what growth looks like as decisioning becomes increasingly AI-driven. Every experiment you run feeds, and is shaped by, the AI and automation stack we're building.
You Will
- Own activation and habituation goals end-to-end as the GM for your area. Define the opportunity landscape, set strategy, decide where to invest, and deliver measurable impact on activation and retention.
- Own the roadmap and experiment backlog for your area. Score every idea against expected impact and effort, whether it's a product change, an in-app surface, an incentive, or a message.
- Run rapid experiments across a wide range of levers, including onboarding, post-onboarding upsell, contact opt-in, behavioral notifications, real-time intervention, mobile wallet adoption, referrals, churn prevention, and winback.
- Ship directly with Engineering, ML, and Design. That covers product changes like onboarding flows, in-app prompts, eligibility logic, and incentive mechanics, as well as the customer communications that support them.
- Diagnose your own funnel. Size opportunities, find friction, read experiment results, and iterate without waiting on an analyst.
- Push the frontier on AI decisioning and automation, and help define how growth work evolves as AI moves further into the decisioning layer.
- Bring what you learn back to the Engagement Marketing team so wins scale across Cash App's broader lifecycle programs.
- Influence strategy across Product, Analytics, Martech, Creative, and Brand as a true peer of these teams.
You Have
- 5+ years of experience in growth product, growth marketing, lifecycle marketing, CRM, growth strategy, business operations, or a consumer-facing analytical role in a B2C tech environment
- A track record of owning a growth goal end-to-end, from opportunity through measurable impact, including real ownership of what got built and shipped
- Experience shaping the product experience itself and working directly with engineers to ship it
- Comfort moving between strategy and hands-on execution. You're as willing to write and launch a message as you are to define a product change or build the model behind it.
- Strong data instincts. You can size an opportunity, build an impact model, and diagnose a funnel from first principles, and you're comfortable pulling and interpreting data yourself, whether through SQL, AI tools, or other means. Experience with data modeling or opportunity sizing frameworks required
- Deep experimentation experience. You know how to build a backlog, design rigorous tests, and use results to drive compounding improvements
- Hands-on experience with a CRM or marketing automation platform (e.g., Braze, Iterable, Salesforce Marketing Cloud), or strong reason to believe you'd ramp on one quickly
- Fluency with AI tools as a core part of how you work, with the ability to automate, accelerate, and scale output in ways that set a new standard for the team
- Clear, structured, takeaway-first communication. You can turn complex analysis and ambiguous situations into crisp strategy and actionable recommendations
Nice to Have
- Experience as a growth PM or in another role where you owned a product roadmap
- Experience with onboarding, activation, or referral programs specifically
- Familiarity with regulated or trust-sensitive products (e.g., fintech, financial services, or healthcare)
- Experience with incentive mechanics or in-app personalization
Technologies We Use and Teach
- Braze, Iterable, or similar CRM and marketing automation platforms
- SQL and AI-assisted analysis for self-serve opportunity sizing
- AI tools (Claude Code, Goose, or others) for strategy, execution, and automation
