Machine Learning Engineer III, Core Agents

About this role

Box is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer III to build foundational AI agents for their enterprise content management platform. You'll design and evaluate agents like DeepSearch and DeepResearch, develop techniques for intent detection and retrieval-augmented generation, and establish evaluation frameworks to measure agent quality at scale.

What you'll do

• Build and evaluate foundational agents (DeepSearch, DeepResearch, Extract, Compose) that power Box's AI ecosystem
• Develop techniques for intent detection, query understanding, ranking, and RAG systems
• Design metrics, evaluation pipelines, and benchmarks for agent quality and performance
• Research and implement best practices for multi-agent orchestration and retrieval workflows
• Collaborate with platform engineers to design scalable, secure agent deployment components
• Partner with product teams to translate enterprise use cases into agentic solutions
