Open Source Engineer - Python

About this role

Braintrust is hiring a Python engineer to design and maintain open-source SDKs that power their AI observability platform. You'll own the full lifecycle of libraries used by thousands of developers to evaluate and monitor AI in production, focusing on developer experience, performance, and seamless integration with major AI providers.

What you'll do

• Build idiomatic, resilient Python SDKs for LLM evaluation and AI observability
• Integrate libraries with major AI providers and frameworks like OpenAI, Anthropic, and Gemini
• Prioritize developer experience through clean APIs, documentation, and error handling
• Create testing, profiling, and release automation tools
• Collaborate with backend and product teams on cohesive developer workflows
• Engage with community users to understand needs and support contributions
