Software Engineer, Developer Experience

About this role

Braintrust seeks a Developer Experience Engineer to own the internal tools that power their engineering team—from CI/CD pipelines to local development environments. You'll eliminate friction in the build, test, and deploy workflows while hardening supply chain security, directly multiplying productivity across the entire organization.

What you'll do

• Reduce CI runtime through parallelization, caching, test optimization, and flake elimination
• Manage the deploy pipeline with progressive rollouts, fast rollbacks, and production monitoring
• Maintain and optimize the build toolchain including bundlers, compilers, and monorepo tools
• Implement supply chain security measures: SBOMs, artifact signing, GitHub Actions hardening, and build provenance
• Build CLIs, GitHub Apps, and automation bots to improve developer workflows
• Partner with engineering team to identify and remove operational friction

What they're looking for

• 5+ years in developer tools, CI/CD, or platform infrastructure
• GitHub expertise (Actions, Apps, APIs, merge queues, branch protections)
• JavaScript/TypeScript build tools (esbuild, swc, Vite, Turbopack, pnpm, tsc)
• Performance profiling and optimization across the stack
• Supply chain security (SBOMs, Sigstore, cosign, SLSA, GitHub Actions)
• Production deployment best practices
• Ability to transform slow workflows into fast, reliable processes
• Full-stack profiling and measurement skills
