About this role
BRINC seeks a Controls Engineer to design and implement flight control algorithms for UAVs used in public safety operations. You'll develop real-time control systems for attitude, trajectory, and autonomous guidance while collaborating with autonomy, software, and hardware teams to deliver production-ready flight control stacks.
What you'll do
- Develop flight control algorithms for attitude, rate, position, and trajectory control on multirotor and hybrid UAVs
- Build guidance pipelines for waypoint tracking, precision trajectory execution, and autonomous behaviors
- Perform system identification, dynamic modeling, and parameter estimation to improve controller accuracy
- Design fault-tolerant control strategies to handle disturbances, sensor issues, and actuator faults
- Validate performance through simulation, hardware-in-loop testing, and real-world flight testing
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate controls with navigation and avionics systems
What they're looking for
- Flight control algorithm design (PID, LQR, MPC)
- Multirotor dynamics and nonlinear systems
- Embedded real-time control loop implementation
- System identification and aerodynamic modeling
- UAV tuning and field validation
- Fault-tolerant and redundancy management
- ROS, PX4, or MAVSDK experience
- Hardware-in-loop simulation
