Data Engineer

About this role

Cape, a privacy-first mobile carrier, seeks a Data Engineer to design and build analytics infrastructure that enables business insights while maintaining strict privacy guarantees. You'll establish data platforms and practices from the ground up, working across engineering and product teams to deliver privacy-preserving analytics.

What you'll do

• Design and build Cape's data warehouse, query layer, and pipeline orchestration with privacy as a core requirement
• Establish privacy-preserving data patterns and best practices for the entire company
• Create self-serve analytics, dashboards, and metrics for product, operations, and leadership
• Set data engineering standards including pipeline conventions, testing, and documentation
• Collaborate with engineering teams to embed privacy into data infrastructure
• Enable business visibility into growth, operations, and product health

What they're looking for

• Data pipeline and warehouse design
• SQL and data modeling for analytics
• Python, Go, or similar backend language
• Cloud data warehouse platforms (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, MongoDB)
• ETL/ELT frameworks and workflow orchestration
• Privacy-preserving data practices (access control, data minimization, identifier management)
• Cross-functional communication and stakeholder management
• Differential privacy or formal privacy models (nice to have)
