About this role
The CDC Foundation seeks a Java developer to enhance Utah's EpiTrax disease surveillance system, focusing on reducing duplicate data entry, automating outbreak tracking, and improving real-time public health response capabilities during high-volume disease events.
What you'll do
- Engineer system enhancements enabling case records to link to multiple outbreaks of the same disease while maintaining data integrity
- Architect automated features that connect cases and contacts to specific outbreaks to reduce manual work and improve surveillance accuracy
- Develop automated task-generation modules to assign and track follow-up actions for public health investigators
- Implement logic to eliminate duplicate data entry across the integrated surveillance system
- Refine and expand data export modules for interoperability with external analysis tools

- Java Enterprise Edition (JEE) development in Wildfly and Java 17
- MVC design patterns (PrimeFaces, JSF Managed Beans, JPA)
- PostgreSQL database design and management
