About this role
Commonwealth Fusion Systems seeks an R&D Electromagnetics Analysis Engineer to model and analyze superconducting magnet systems for fusion energy applications. You'll conduct finite element analysis of high-temperature superconductors, integrate multi-physics simulations, and validate computational models against experimental data.
What you'll do
- Perform electromagnetic analysis of superconducting magnets using finite element methods and custom code
- Model non-linear and anisotropic behavior of high-temperature superconductors in insulated and non-insulated systems
- Develop 3D multi-physics FEA models incorporating heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and mechanical effects
- Validate simulation results against experimental data with engineering and physicist teams
- Develop custom in-house code and extensions to commercial analysis packages
- Communicate technical findings clearly to inform subsystem design decisions
What they're looking for
- Finite element analysis (FEA)
- Electromagnetic analysis
- High-temperature superconductor modeling
- Multi-physics simulation
- Custom code development
- Commercial FEA software packages
- Technical communication
- Experimental validation
