About this role
CGS seeks an experienced Desktop/Workstation Design Engineer to lead OS image development, system architecture planning, and large-scale software deployment strategies for government infrastructure. The role involves designing robust solutions using enterprise deployment tools, managing security controls, and supporting Windows-based enterprise environments.
What you'll do
- Serve as subject matter expert for desktop OS image development and enterprise deployment
- Engineer and implement large-scale software distribution using MECM, MDT, and patching infrastructure
- Design and test software packages for deployment across desktops, laptops, tablets, and servers
- Analyze and recommend hardware solutions and provide software requirement recommendations
- Perform security assessments, patch management, vulnerability reviews, and compliance auditing
- Participate in architecture discussions and technology roadmap planning for desktop integration

- Windows OS engineering and Windows 7/10 migration
- Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) and Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT)
- PowerShell and VB scripting
- OS patching infrastructure (BigFix, Windows Update)
- Microsoft Office and application integration
- Security controls implementation and vulnerability assessment
- VPN/Remote access configuration (Cisco Secure Access preferred)
- Independent problem-solving with minimal guidance
