About this role
CGS is hiring an experienced Network Engineer in Chicago to evaluate, design, and maintain large-scale wired and wireless network infrastructure for a government project. You'll work with state/local officials and vendors to implement network solutions, conduct security assessments, and provide technical guidance throughout the deployment.
What you'll do
- Operate, manage, and optimize NPS network infrastructure across wired and wireless systems
- Administer Cloudpath onboarding, monitor wireless health, and troubleshoot network issues
- Design network solutions and provide architecture recommendations based on best practices
- Conduct testing procedures, vulnerability assessments, and security patch implementations
- Create and maintain infrastructure documentation, including diagrams and JIRA tickets
- Train internal teams on network products and provide knowledge transfer on theory of operation
What they're looking for
- Network infrastructure management (Layer 2/3, VLANs, OSPF, VRRP)
- Wireless network administration and RF site survey tools (Ekahau, Wireshark)
- Network security (802.1x, MAC authentication, RADIUS, ACLs, CA)
- Linux, MS Server 2013, VMware administration
- Vulnerability assessments and penetration testing
- CWNA and BCNE certifications (or equivalent)
- Technical documentation and communication skills
- Agile/Scrum project management methodologies
