About this role

CGS is hiring an experienced Network Engineer in Chicago to evaluate, design, and maintain large-scale wired and wireless network infrastructure for a government project. You'll work with state/local officials and vendors to implement network solutions, conduct security assessments, and provide technical guidance throughout the deployment.

What you'll do

  • Operate, manage, and optimize NPS network infrastructure across wired and wireless systems
  • Administer Cloudpath onboarding, monitor wireless health, and troubleshoot network issues
  • Design network solutions and provide architecture recommendations based on best practices
  • Conduct testing procedures, vulnerability assessments, and security patch implementations
  • Create and maintain infrastructure documentation, including diagrams and JIRA tickets
  • Train internal teams on network products and provide knowledge transfer on theory of operation

What they're looking for

  • Network infrastructure management (Layer 2/3, VLANs, OSPF, VRRP)
  • Wireless network administration and RF site survey tools (Ekahau, Wireshark)
  • Network security (802.1x, MAC authentication, RADIUS, ACLs, CA)
  • Linux, MS Server 2013, VMware administration
  • Vulnerability assessments and penetration testing
  • CWNA and BCNE certifications (or equivalent)
  • Technical documentation and communication skills
  • Agile/Scrum project management methodologies
