Site Reliability Engineer - Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity

About this role

Charles River Associates seeks a Site Reliability Engineer to ensure critical business services remain reliable and performant across on-premises and hybrid cloud environments. The role combines software engineering with operations to automate manual processes, improve system observability, and strengthen incident response across the firm's Microsoft-centric infrastructure.

What you'll do

• Design and execute a scalable disaster recovery testing program with defined cadence, success criteria, and runbook maintenance
• Define and maintain service level indicators (SLIs) and objectives (SLOs) with service owners, tracking error budgets and reliability metrics
• Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and dashboards to reduce mean time to detect and respond to incidents
• Lead blameless post-incident reviews to identify root causes and drive remediation to completion
• Manage hands-on infrastructure for Windows Server, VMware vSphere, VMware Site Recovery Manager, SAN technologies, and Rubrik
• Collaborate cross-functionally with infrastructure, security, application, and service delivery teams on reliability improvements

What they're looking for

• VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM) and Azure Site Recovery (ASR) experience
• SRE concepts and practices (SLIs/SLOs, error budgets, observability)
• Disaster recovery orchestration and testing program development
• Windows Server, VMware vSphere, and SAN storage administration
• Monitoring, logging, and alerting tools and practices
• Incident response and operational readiness management
• Runbook documentation and standardization
• Cross-functional communication and on-call rotation participation
