AI/ML Engineer

About this role

Chime's AI/ML Trust & Safety team seeks an engineer to develop machine learning models and risk decisioning systems protecting millions of members. You'll work on end-to-end model development, experimentation, and production systems under senior mentorship, building expertise in applied ML, risk detection, and financial safety.

What you'll do

• Design and implement training pipeline components for AI/ML models supporting risk decisioning
• Develop and iterate on model features with clear requirements and senior guidance
• Conduct offline model evaluation and online experiment analysis for performance assessment
• Write modular, testable, maintainable code following engineering best practices
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Risk teams to translate findings into recommendations
• Contribute to production ML workflows including training, inference, and monitoring

What they're looking for

• Machine learning fundamentals (feature development, model training, validation, evaluation)
• Python or similar programming languages
• AWS or cloud platform experience
• Experimentation and statistical analysis
• Model performance evaluation and tradeoff analysis
• Version control and orchestration tools
• Cross-functional communication and collaboration
• Deep learning methods (preferred)
