About this role

About the role

We are hiring a Business Control Manager to join Chime’s Compliance Business Control Management team, with a primary focus on control delivery for Growth Marketing and Chime Enterprise. You will partner with business and control owners to translate agreed risk outcomes into practical controls that provide the right level of risk mitigation while working effectively for the business. You will also help bring Chime’s broader enterprise control environment to light by identifying, validating, and documenting controls that are already operating across the business. Along the way, you’ll have opportunities to contribute to larger Compliance BCM and business efforts based on priorities and capacity.

In this role, you can expect to

  • Partner with Growth Marketing and Chime Enterprise business and control owners to translate agreed risk and control outcomes into practical implementation plans, while supporting additional Compliance BCM portfolios based on priorities and capacity.
  • Contribute to reviews of business requirements, projects, process or product changes, incidents, complaints, and regulatory developments by identifying relevant controls, operating practices, gaps, dependencies, and implementation considerations.
  • Drive assigned control workstreams through implementation, validation, documentation, and closure, coordinating milestones, dependencies, evidence, and routine decisions with business and control owners.
  • Evaluate Chime’s existing control environment by reviewing business activities, procedures, system capabilities, evidence, and current control records to identify controls already operating and potential coverage gaps.
  • Assess whether existing controls provide appropriate coverage and recommend whether controls should be reused, enhanced, created, consolidated, or retired.
  • Evaluate implementation readiness, coordinate control owner attestations, validate assigned controls against team standards, and maintain complete and current control records.
  • Track gaps, exceptions, remediation commitments, and dependencies through closure, escalating material design, ownership, exposure, or delivery concerns and supporting remediation arising from incidents, testing, audits, or other findings.

To thrive in this role, you have

  • 4 or more years of experience in business controls, regulatory compliance, operational risk, audit, operations, or a related discipline within financial services, fintech, or another highly regulated environment.
  • Hands-on experience taking a control or process improvement from a defined problem or requirement through implementation, evidence review, documentation, and closure.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience evaluating business processes, requirements, incidents, and control records to understand what is operating, identify gaps, and determine where clarification or additional risk mitigation is needed.
  • Strong execution and project-management skills, including managing multiple workstreams, dependencies, decisions, and stakeholders while adapting to changing complexity, urgency, and team priorities.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to partner effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, challenge incomplete evidence or unclear ownership, and escalate material concerns with sound judgment.
  • Experience working in consumer financial services or another regulated environment, with working knowledge of regulatory and consumer protection risk frameworks such as EFTA and Regulation E, TILA and Regulation Z, UDAAP, or comparable requirements.
