Data Governance Engineer

About this role

Chime seeks a Data Governance Engineer to build trust infrastructure and data quality frameworks that ensure data integrity and compliance across the organization. This hands-on role combines engineering, strategy, and stakeholder management to create governance automation, quality monitoring systems, and trust scorecards that enable confident decision-making.

What you'll do

• Design and implement trust scorecards, signals, and quality indicators for real-time data reliability visibility
• Develop data governance policies for classification, quality, and lifecycle management aligned with SOX compliance
• Build automation solutions for metadata management, data lineage tracking, and access controls using Terraform and Python
• Own data quality strategy end-to-end and partner with engineering teams on proactive issue identification
• Collaborate on data catalog development, enrichment, and adoption across the organization
• Identify and lead AI tooling adoption opportunities within data governance workflows
