About this role
About the Role
Build and own the data foundation behind pricing for an online resale marketplace. You will turn noisy, inconsistent sold-listing data into trustworthy comparable sales and price estimates, partnering closely with the computer vision team to define how items are matched across sources.
What You'll Do
Build and operate scheduled ingestion pipelines for sold-listing data from multiple marketplaces and sources.
Develop entity resolution systems that match inconsistent listing text and images to canonical items.
Create valuation logic that weighs factors such as recency, condition, and the number of comparable sales.
Monitor data quality and identify drift, suspected fraud, and stale comparable listings before they affect users.
Work with the computer vision lead to determine what qualifies as the same item across data sources.
Evaluate data sources, licensing options, and third-party pricing feeds, making practical build-versus-buy recommendations.
What We're Looking For
At least 5 years of data engineering experience, including building and owning production ETL pipelines at scale.
Experience working with noisy or adversarial data, such as marketplace, pricing, or fraud-related data.
Strong SQL skills and experience with modern data tools such as dbt, Airflow or Dagster, and Spark or similar technologies.
Some exposure to statistical estimation or pricing models, including regression-based comparable-sales logic.
Sound judgment around ambiguous data quality tradeoffs and the ability to communicate pricing confidence and uncertainty to non-technical stakeholders.
Experience in pricing intelligence, entity resolution, data licensing, or an early-stage startup is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
The salary range is $160,000 to $220,000 USD annually.
Location
Remote within North America.
