About this role

Join a Y Combinator-backed language learning startup as a Founding Full-Stack Engineer, building AI-driven mobile and web experiences from the ground up. You'll own substantial portions of the codebase across React Native, Go, PostgreSQL, and video streaming infrastructure while working daily with the founding team in San Francisco.

What you'll do

  • Build and ship end-to-end product features from backend services through mobile UI and deployment
  • Develop high-performance mobile experiences using React Native and Expo
  • Design and optimize PostgreSQL data models and schemas for performance
  • Implement video streaming pipelines and HLS infrastructure
  • Create AI-driven learning features leveraging LLMs and audio/video models
  • Enhance developer tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and system observability

  • Go (Golang) with strong backend service experience
  • React Native and Expo for mobile development
  • PostgreSQL data modeling and performance optimization
  • TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and REST APIs
  • Testing practices (unit, integration, end-to-end tests)
  • Video streaming (HLS) and LLM/AI integration
  • Unix systems, Git, and terminal workflows
  • Debugging tools (Chrome DevTools, React Native profiler, Xcode Instruments)
