Robotics Data Infrastructure Engineer
About this role
Design and operate scalable data pipelines for robotics sensor telemetry at a venture-backed startup, enabling ML and engineering teams to safely iterate on intelligent robotic systems. You'll architect storage solutions, ensure data quality, and optimize processing for both real-time and batch workloads in a hands-on, high-ownership environment.
What you'll do
- Design and build scalable pipelines to ingest and process robot telemetry and sensor data (camera, LiDAR, IMU)
- Implement storage solutions and schemas optimized for analytics, model training, and replay workflows
- Ensure data quality, validation, and lineage across ingestion and transformation stages
- Optimize latency and throughput for real-time streaming and batch processing workloads
- Productionize ETL/ELT workflows with CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring, and alerting
- Collaborate with robotics engineers and data scientists to translate platform requirements into robust implementations

- Python and/or C++ for data tooling and pipeline development
- Cloud data platforms (AWS or GCP) and distributed processing (Kafka, Pub/Sub, Spark, Flink)
- Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD deployment practices
- Time-series databases and robotics telemetry data management
- Distributed systems, database design, and pipeline architecture
- Data quality, validation, and lineage practices
- ROS/ROS2 robotics middleware (nice-to-have)
- ML workflow tooling like MLFlow or Kubeflow (nice-to-have)
