Systems Engineer, Edge

About this role

Cloudflare seeks a Systems Engineer to design and maintain software powering its massive edge network infrastructure. You'll develop scalable solutions, manage distributed systems through on-call rotations, and mentor team members while working on services that support millions of internet properties globally.

What you'll do

• Design and develop software to improve Cloudflare's Edge platform
• Scale and evolve distributed systems through software and automation
• Participate in on-call rotation supporting the global edge network
• Collaborate on designing and implementing scalable solutions
• Research and introduce cutting-edge technologies for large-scale operations
• Mentor team members and contribute to open-source projects

What they're looking for

• Distributed systems management (up to 8 years experience)
• Linux/Unix administration
• High-level programming (Golang, Python)
• Configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Saltstack)
• Networking protocols (OSI layers 3-7, BGP)
• Performance analysis and debugging
• Load balancing and reverse proxies (Nginx)
• SQL databases and key/value stores
