About this role
Colonist seeks a hands-on QA Engineer to own product quality for a digital board game platform with millions of players. Beyond identifying bugs, you'll fix issues directly in the codebase, drive end-to-end solutions, and proactively improve QA processes across web, mobile, and Discord platforms in a fully remote, asynchronous environment.
What you'll do
- Fix quality issues directly in the codebase and drive larger fixes end-to-end
- Run weekly QA sessions on dev and staging builds with post-release production checks
- Test pull requests across happy paths, edge cases, and multiple platforms
- Monitor Discord bug channels, validate player reports, and create structured tickets
- Identify UX problems and product issues beyond traditional bugs
- Proactively find gaps in QA processes and propose improvements
What they're looking for
- Full-cycle QA (test planning, execution, reporting, follow-through)
- Web, mobile, and Discord platform testing
- Code literacy and ability to submit PRs for smaller fixes
- Async written communication and structured bug reporting
- AI tools proficiency
- GitHub, Linear, and BrowserStack experience
- Test automation (Selenium, Playwright, Cypress) — bonus
- Multiplayer or real-time game QA experience — bonus
