About this role

Crusoe is on a mission to accelerate the abundance of energy and intelligence. As the only vertically integrated AI infrastructure company built from the ground up, we own and operate each layer of the stack — from electrons to tokens — to power the world's most ambitious AI workloads. When you join Crusoe, you join a team that is building the future, faster.

We're in the midst of the greatest industrial revolution of our time. The demand for AI compute is boundless, and power is a bottleneck. We're solving that — with an energy-first approach that makes AI infrastructure better for the world and faster for the people innovating with AI.

We're looking for problem-solving, opportunity-finding teammates with a sense of urgency, who believe in the scale of our ambition and thrive on a path not fully paved — people who want to grow their careers alongside a team of experts across energy, manufacturing, data center construction, and cloud services.

If you want to do the most meaningful work of your career, help our customers and partners advance their AI strategies, and be part of a high-performing team that believes in each other, come build with us at Crusoe.

About This Role

Join Crusoe Energy as a Mechanical Design Engineer I. In this entry-level role, you will assist in the transformation of customer requirements into production-ready 3D models and detailed drawings for modular integrated electronics buildings and standalone power distribution equipment. Working under the guidance of senior engineers, you will focus on learning to create precise fabrication drawings and supporting the engineering team to ensure designs are functional and compliant with regulatory and commercial codes.

This position is ideal for a collaborative, highly motivated recent graduate with foundational 3D modeling skills and a strong eagerness to learn the mechanical design of modular buildings and power distribution systems.

What You’ll Be Working On

  • Mechanical Design & Documentation: Assist in the design of modular integrated buildings, low voltage switchboards, medium voltage switchgear, and critical power distribution equipment.

  • Technical Documentation: Help develop specification sheets, bills of materials (BOMs), detailed assembly instructions, and manufacturing documents while learning to maintain a high standard for accuracy.

  • Detailed Drawings: Draft shop drawings, product submittals, operation and maintenance (O&M) manuals, and as-built drawings under the supervision of senior engineers, ensuring traceability across projects.

  • Code Compliance: Learn to navigate and apply regulatory requirements, commercial codes, customer specifications, and engineering standards to product designs.

  • Quality Assurance: Participate in model reviews and drawing checks as part of the engineering design release process to build your QA skills and ensure design accuracy.

  • Manufacturing Efficiency: Support Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA) and Design for Excellence (DFx) reviews to gain exposure to cost reduction and manufacturing efficiency strategies.

  • Lifecycle Management: Assist in executing Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) as part of product release and lifecycle management, coordinating with cross-functional teams.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with Sales, Project Management, Purchasing, and Manufacturing teams to shadow technical problem-solving and support customer inquiries.

  • Process Improvement: Participate in team discussions to identify and implement improvements to design procedures, safety, and quality methodologies.

What You’ll Bring to the Team

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or an equivalent engineering discipline (recent and upcoming graduates welcome).

  • Experience: 0–2 years of mechanical design experience (includes internships, co-ops, or relevant academic capstone projects).

  • Technical Proficiency: Foundational proficiency with 3D modeling software (SolidWorks preferred) and a willingness to learn data management tools like SolidWorks PDM.

  • Materials Knowledge: Basic academic understanding of metals and materials used for fabrication, including properties and manufacturing methods.

  • Code Application: Awareness of, or a strong willingness to learn, building codes, energy codes, and UL listings.

  • First Principles: Solid academic foundation in solving engineering problems utilizing a first principles approach to design and analysis.

  • Detail Orientation: Meticulous commitment to detail ensuring precision in your drafting, analysis, and documentation.

  • Safety and Compliance: This position is designated a safety-sensitive position and/or is located in a safety-sensitive facility. Drug and alcohol program participation is required.

  • Physical & Operational Requirements: Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods.

Bonus Points

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification.

  • Hands-on experience from engineering clubs or collegiate competitions (e.g., Formula SAE, Baja SAE, Solar Decathlon).

  • Internship or project experience using Enterprise/Manufacturing Resource Planning (ERP/MRP) software.

  • Academic or internship experience with simulation and analysis software, such as FEA or FDM.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation and equity packages

  • Restricted Stock Units

  • Paid time off, paid holidays & leave of absence programs

  • Comprehensive health, dental & vision insurance

  • Employer contributions to HSA account
