AI Engineer - FDE (Forward Deployed Engineer) - U.S. Federal Sector

About this role

Databricks seeks an AI Engineer to join its Forward Deployed Engineering team, delivering cutting-edge generative AI solutions to federal government customers. The role combines technical expertise in GenAI development with customer-facing advisory work, requiring U.S. citizenship and Secret clearance eligibility for access to classified environments.

What you'll do

• Develop and deploy production-grade generative AI applications including RAG, multi-agent systems, and fine-tuning solutions
• Own end-to-end production rollouts of GenAI applications for government clients
• Serve as technical advisor to customers across various domains and use cases
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product and engineering teams to influence roadmap priorities
• Present at industry conferences and establish thought leadership internally and externally
• Travel to customer sites periodically (approximately every 4-8 weeks)

• Generative AI development (RAG, multi-agent systems, Text2SQL, fine-tuning)
• GenAI tools: HuggingFace, LangChain, DSPy
• Production ML deployment and optimization
• Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Python data science stack: pandas, scikit-learn, PyTorch
• Databricks Intelligence Platform and Apache Spark (preferred)
• Technical communication to diverse audiences
• Hands-on data science and machine learning expertise
