Systems Engineer

About this role

Data Systems Analysts, Inc. seeks a Systems Engineer to design, implement, and maintain enterprise systems within a secure DoD environment at Fort Detrick, MD. The role involves collaborating across multiple technical teams to deliver reliable, scalable solutions while managing system administration, troubleshooting, and modernization initiatives.

What you'll do

• Design and deploy system and infrastructure solutions aligned with customer and mission requirements
• Perform hands-on system administration, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis in secure enterprise environments
• Collaborate with infrastructure, networking, development, QA, and cyber security teams on system integration and issue resolution
• Develop and maintain technical documentation including configurations, diagrams, and operational procedures
• Participate in change control, configuration management, and incident response processes
• Drive continuous improvement through automation, standardization, and adoption of best practices

• Systems engineering and system administration
• TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and subnetting
• Linux systems (Red Hat Enterprise Linux preferred)
• Container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift)
• Scripting and automation (Bash, Python, Ansible)
• Microsoft Copilot or equivalent AI solutions
• Technical documentation and communication
• DISA STIGs and DoD security standards (preferred)
