Software Engineer, Platform

About this role

David AI, a newly-funded audio data research company, is seeking a Software Engineer to build scalable backend services and distributed systems that handle petabytes of audio data. You'll design production-grade APIs, own system architecture and performance, and collaborate across teams to ship features rapidly.

What you'll do

• Design, build, and maintain production-grade backend services for data collection and customer insights
• Own architecture and performance of distributed systems that ingest, transform, and serve audio data at scale
• Define and evolve internal APIs and service boundaries to support ML and product features
• Build resilient, observable systems with strong performance characteristics
• Collaborate with product, operations, and ML teams to iterate on new ideas and ship quickly

What they're looking for

• Backend development and scalable API design (3+ years)
• RESTful APIs and service-oriented architecture
• Database design (PostgreSQL, MySQL)
• Distributed systems knowledge
• Cloud infrastructure and infrastructure-as-code
• Backend profiling, debugging, and optimization
• Event-driven architectures and async processing (bonus)
• CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices (bonus)
