Full-Stack Geospatial Data Engineer

Remote (Remote)$40k–$110kfulltimemidAdded 2 days ago

About this role

dClimate Labs seeks a full-stack data engineer to build and scale CYCLOPS, a geospatial intelligence platform that converts satellite imagery into carbon and land-use metrics. You'll own the complete stack—from petabyte-scale data pipelines processing Earth observation imagery to customer-facing APIs and dashboards—while enabling climate finance to flow to verified nature-based projects.

What you'll do

  • Design end-to-end satellite image processing pipelines (STAC, xarray, Parquet/Zarr) and expose results via GraphQL/REST APIs
  • Build geospatial dashboards and web applications using Next.js/React with supporting backends in Python/Node/FastAPI
  • Architect and optimize distributed data workflows for petabyte-scale operations using Dask, DuckDB, and cloud orchestration
  • Implement infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD automation, and observability for production systems on AWS
  • Establish engineering practices, lead code reviews, and mentor new team members on technical direction
  • Profile and optimize memory and I/O performance to maintain cost-efficiency at scale

What they're looking for

  • Python and TypeScript/Node.js full-stack development
  • Geospatial tools (GDAL, Rasterio, GeoPandas, Google Earth Engine, STAC, xarray)
  • Data infrastructure (Dask, DuckDB, Parquet, Zarr, Cloud-Optimized GeoTIFF)
  • Cloud & DevOps (AWS, Docker, Terraform/Pulumi, Prefect orchestration)
  • Distributed systems and data versioning at scale
  • React and frontend frameworks
  • Observability and monitoring (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry)
  • GIS and remote-sensing fundamentals

Benefits

  • Remote-first, async-friendly culture with team hubs in Europe and USA
  • Competitive salary range $40,000–$110,000 USD (depending on experience and location; customized for global candidates)
  • Hardware, conference, and learning stipends
  • Opportunity to lead technical direction and mentor engineers
  • Mission-driven work directly addressing climate change at scale
  • Chance to design novel systems without legacy constraints
