Associate Engineer - Data Platform

About this role

Defense Unicorns is hiring an Associate Engineer for their data platform team to own testing, deployment, and tooling for distributed systems. You'll write test suites, package open source software in Kubernetes, create documentation, and contribute to internal tools while growing in a rigorous technical environment.

What you'll do

• Write and maintain integration, end-to-end, and regression test suites
• Package and deploy open source software components in Kubernetes environments
• Build seed data tooling and scripts for platform demonstrations
• Create clear bug reports with reproduction steps and technical documentation
• Contribute to internal tooling, dashboards, and runbooks
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback

• Test automation and validation
• Programming (Python, Go, TypeScript, or similar)
• AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor)
• Kubernetes and containerization (Docker)
• Linux command-line environments
• Technical writing and documentation
• Distributed systems understanding
• Database experience (SQL, NoSQL, or key-value stores)
