About this role
Discord seeks an experienced Data Engineer to build and maintain curated analytical datasets, data models, and self-serve dashboards that empower stakeholders across the organization. You'll own metric definitions end-to-end, establish data quality standards, and drive consistent data modeling practices while partnering with product, data science, and engineering teams.
What you'll do
- Design, build, and maintain curated analytical datasets and canonical data models for metrics and dashboards
- Own metric definitions from conception through production implementation and visualization
- Build executive-level dashboards and self-serve reporting tools enabling stakeholder autonomy
- Partner with data science, product, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into performant data assets
- Establish and enforce data quality standards through testing, documentation, and monitoring
- Drive adoption of consistent data modeling patterns, naming conventions, and documentation across the data organization

- SQL (3+ years writing accurate, effective queries)
- Data modeling and design from structured and unstructured sources
- Python or equivalent programming language with version control and CI/CD proficiency
- BI tools (Looker, Tableau, or similar)
- Analytics and data engineering fundamentals
- Business acumen and metric definition
- Cross-functional communication and stakeholder management
- dbt, BigQuery, or modern analytics tools (bonus)
