Hardware Systems Engineer
About this role
DoorDash seeks a Hardware Systems Engineer to architect multi-subsystem platforms for autonomous delivery robots, managing electrical, mechanical, firmware, sensor, and compute integration. You'll translate requirements into verifiable specs, lead cross-functional debugging, and ensure fault-tolerant, safe system operation across separate engineering teams.
What you'll do
- Own system-level architecture spanning electrical, mechanical, firmware, sensor, and compute subsystems for autonomous delivery platforms
- Decompose platform requirements into verifiable specifications for power distribution, motion control, embedded compute, and sensor suites
- Drive requirements traceability, interface control documents, trade studies, and verification and validation plans across multiple teams
- Define fault-tolerant architectures using FMEA, fault trees, and redundancy strategies to handle component failures
- Lead cross-functional root-cause debugging and design reviews across hardware, firmware, and software boundaries
- Translate business and regulatory requirements into precise engineering specifications with Product, Safety, Legal, and Operations teams
