About this role

Duolingo is seeking a Platform Engineer II to join their Compute team and contribute to a mission-driven organization. This role focuses on building and operating core compute primitives based on Kubernetes, enhancing the delivery pipeline, and ensuring platform reliability and scalability for a global user base. You'll contribute to building 'paved roads' for other engineers and actively participate in on-call responsibilities.

  • Improve the delivery pipeline with GitOps and deployment patterns.
  • Define SLOs, build dashboards/alerts, and participate in on-call/incident response.
  • Enable self-service through reusable platform abstractions.
  • Work across regions and cloud providers.
  • Raise the operational bar to maintain platform dependability.
